Course overview

I’m passionate about watercolour painting and have honed this style after years of practice. I want to share this knowledge with you and am confident that by using this simple process, you will quickly be able to create beautiful watercolour portraits adding your own style and identity.

In this course, I reveal my whole process starting with the materials I use then how to choose a reference image and sketch onto paper. We will look at composition and also do an exercise on understanding values and how to isolate them. A crucial aspect of this modern technique.

We will then go through how I mix and prepare colours in a way that really simplifies things. I will then show you a painting exercise to help you understand the glazing techniques and how lay down the colour shapes.

I then take you through a real time portrait in detail from start to finish separated into the nine stages.

Then finally a short conclusion talking about what we have learned and how to use this method for future projects.

Included in the course, you will also receive a FREE Cheat Sheet which you can have alongside you to use as a guide when painting portraits.

If you’ve no experience with watercolour or are adept at using this medium, then this tutorial is for you. It is suitable for all abilities.
